Deal Breakers by Laura Lee

This Advanced Reading Copy was provided to me by the publishers in exchange for an honest review.

Laura Lee writes fun, sexy, and humorous books that are good to read when you just seem to have too much time on your hands. That being said, this is her first contemporary romance so I wasn't sure what to expect going in. I have read her paranormal books, the Karli Lane series and I enjoyed those. Lucky enough, it seems like she knows what she is doing because I also liked this book, and I may just read the other books in the Dealing With Love series when they hit the shelves. You see when I think of authors switching genres I think of music. To me it can either go as good as Taylor Swift switching from country to pop, or as bad as Steven Tyler going from rock to country. Stick with Aerosmith. Me likey Aerosmith.

Deal Breakers starts out with two characters Riley and Devyn, Riley being the male and Devyn the female, and the book gives a few brief chapters on when they were in college together so we have an idea of what happened, how it happened, who went where, and so on. I would have really liked more on this time. I feel like it would really take the book to the next level if the readers could be able to further understand the strength of the bond Riley and Devyn had when they were in collegs even more. I did however like the charaters themselves. They were real people with real lifes. It's nice when you can feel like the charaters aren't perfect. My favorite character was Nathan! You just have to love a kid with a potty-mouth! Now that my friends, is real.

Overall I was left with a sense that the story could have been better developed. I feel like a lot got left out, especially in those college years. However the story was still enjoyable, and a good book to read when you have a few hours of down time. I love a good love triangle, so that made me super happy. What can I say? There are worse things than being adored by more that one man. Suck up the attention while you're still young and beautiful honey!

3 Stars.
